ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

Monza, La Pista Magica. Formula One's original temple of speed. The days of the fearsome banking may be long gone but the circuit, in royal parkland just outside Milan, is still a flat-out blast with just four real corners and a few chicanes to break up the full-throttle action. Top speeds have nudged the 350km/h mark while average speeds are getting up to 250km/h. It adds up to a bespoke package of skinny wings and soft suspension to attack the kerbs at the chicanes. Fast, furious and just a little bit frightening, Monza is the last of its kind. A stone-cold classic.

WELCOME TO MONZA

If ever there was a race, and a city, which encapsulates the passion, the heritage and the glamour of Formula One, then it is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Racing around the beautiful 200-year-old Royal Park, spectators get to see F1 cars pushed to their absolute limits. Well-to-do Monza has a love-hate relationship with its race, enjoying the international celebrity but struggling with the disruption and the noise. Many residents opt to take the short trip north to beautiful Lake Como for the week or south to Milan, one of the world's great fashion capitals. The problem for them is that many wiser fans opt to do the same...
