ABOUT SÉBASTIEN

The 2014 Formula One season brings with it a host of technical changes as well as the return of multiple in-season tests, and as such Infiniti Red Bull Racing once again looks to the highly experienced Sébastien Buemi to undertake Test and Reserve driver duties for the team – the Swiss driver's fourth year in the role.

ABOUT SÉBASTIEN

Sébastien's first stint as the team's test driver came in 2008, the year after he finished as runner-up to Romain Grosjean in the Formula 3 Euro Series Championship.

During the 2008 season Sébastien also raced in GP2, finishing as runner-up in the Asia series. He also finished sixth overall in the main series, scoring sprint race wins in France and Hungary.

The lessons learned that year earned Buemi a Formula One drive with Scuderia Toro Rosso for 2009 and at the season-opener in Australia he became the first Swiss driver to contest a grand prix since Jean-Denis Délétraz at the 1995 European Grand Prix.

To make the occasion even more memorable Séb picked up points on his debut, driving to eighth place in the race and later being promoted to seventh following Lewis Hamilton's exclusion from the final result. By the end of the season he'd racked up a total of six points, taking eighth place in China and Abu Dhabi and scoring another seventh place in Brazil.

In his 55 grands prix with our sister team, Sébastien scored 29 championship points and completed over 13,000km across more than 2,600 laps of racing. With a wealth of F1 experience behind him, the decision to bring him back to Red Bull Racing in a Test and Reserve capacity for 2012 was straightforward.

Since his return Sébastien has proved a great asset and with 2014's technical and developmental pressures in mind the choice to once again lean on Séb's F1 knowledge and experience has been easy.

Since returning to Infiniti Red Bull Racing, Sébastien has mixed team duties with sportscar racing, making his Le Mans 24-Hours debut in 2012. Last year, an expanded World Endurance Championship programme saw him and his team-mates take victory at the final round in Bahrain and score three other podium finishes, including second place at Le Mans.
